We at the Organic Newsroom feel that all great change is found rooted in a shift of awareness. This philosophy inspires much of what we focus on, and we believe those in which this philosophy resonates possess the largest potential to affect positive change on our world. We are very excited today to announce our new Healthy Lifestyle Scholarship Program, in which we will award a $1000 scholarship to a qualifying applicant. The rules for entry can be found at the bottom of this page. Applications must be for current United States residents seeking financial aid for enrollment in United States-based educational programs, and winners will be required to verify their academic status.
The Healthy Lifestyle Philosophy
Healthy lifestyle decisions are invaluable catalysts for positive personal change. We are surrounded by a world full of poor nutritional choices and chemical-laden food additives. Disease rates are skyrocketing, side-effects of medications are amassing, and mis-representations of alternative therapies are abound. The Organic Newsroom works to help spread awareness regarding the powerful potential that proper diet, nutrition, and exercise possess in surmounting these modern health issues. We believe that one of the most potent means of spreading accurate and helpful information is to cultivate a passion for better understanding ourselves, our Earth, and the lifestyle choices we are faced with.
We’ve covered many topics such as the most trusted brands of vitamins and supplements, finding the best protein powder, the curious category of cognitive enhancing compounds called Nootropics, and even helped our readers to find the best juicers available for purchase. We hold a strong belief that supplements and alternative therapies have the ability to help address many of man’s modern health concerns. This belief has inspired us to write articles covering magnesium supplements, the benefits of infrared saunas, and the powerful healing ability of infrared light. These are off the beaten-path for many health-focused sites, and we feel that in-depth discussion of topics such as these—backed by peer-reviewed research—can help clear up a lot of misconceptions.
The Healthy Living Scholarship program has been established as a means to help provide those most likely to spark positive change a much needed advantage. College tuition is climbing along with the cost of living, and student debts are becoming the new normal. Haunted by a looming cloud of financial burden, many of those in this world most able to affect change are muffled by missed opportunity, and professional concession all in the name of paying the bills. This scholarship is meant to offer an added advantage to the student we feel most-likely represents the change and awareness of diet, nutrition, health care, and personal fitness we feel is needed.
How to Qualify
This scholarship will be awarded to the student who best represents the concepts and ideals we feel are much needed in the world of consumer and personal health. To be considered for this scholarship, you must submit a 800-1200 word essay on the impact of nutrition, diet, exercise or alternative therapies on personal health. This topic is meant to reflect your personal experiences, and not to be oriented towards current political topics such as the Affordable Care Act, or other business-related topics. Your essay should highlight your personal experiences and reference peer-reviewed medical literature for any references to health-related benefits. False or arbitrary claims of health-related benefits will automatically disqualify your entry, although you will be given ample time and instruction on how to correct such errors. Your essay should be submitted before the December 1st, 2017 deadline. On December 1st, 2017 3 finalists will be selected, and each essay from these applicants will be posted for public voting. The essay that receives the most votes will win the scholarship. To be considered for this scholarship, you must complete the following steps:
