With each passing day, CBD continues to increase in popularity. While that’s a good thing as a consumer, it also makes it more difficult to cut through the clutter and find high-quality products that suit your personal requirements (and budget).

Regardless of the benefits you’re seeking from CBD oil, it’s important to shop with quality in mind. This means something different to everyone, but here are five traits of the highest quality products:

  1. Testing, Testing, and More Testing

Okay, so you won’t personally test the soil the hemp plant is grown in, but you still want to check on this before making a purchase.

The safest, and therefore highest quality, CBD comes from areas where the government requires farmers to submit to regular testing for toxic substances.

In regards to the oil itself, it should always pass through testing by an ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited lab. This ensures that it’s not contaminated by bacteria, metals, pesticides, and other potentially harmful substances.

Tip: when you stick with products that are known for quality and companies that are known for their reputation, there’s less chance of buying a product that’s more of a scam than anything else.

  1. Extracted Using Alcohol or CO2

There is more than one way to extra CBD oil, with the use of alcohol or CO2 among the best.

Both of these methods are acceptable, as they ensure that the extract is free of harmful chemicals or additives. The same cannot be said about other extraction methods, such as butane, hexane, and propane.

  1. Higher Priced

When buying CBD oil, it’s easy to turn your attention to the most affordable products. While most consumers shop with price in mind, you don’t want to go down this path when buying something that you’ll put into your body.

If the price is too good to be true, it probably is. Just like any other product, high-quality CBD oil isn’t cheap to produce. It takes high-quality materials, as well as a detailed process, to produce an effective product.

This doesn’t mean you should waste money by purchasing the highest-priced products on the market. But what it does mean is that you should take price into consideration and be wary of products that are priced well below the rest of the market.

  1. There’s Nothing to Hide

Have you ever come across a CBD bottle that doesn’t tell you the whole story? Primarily, a bottle that doesn’t share all its ingredients or the amount of CBD you’re getting.

The bottle should have at least one of the following:

  • The total number of milligrams
  • The concentration level

The higher the number, the more potent the product. As a general rule of thumb, you should only consider bottles that have 250 mg or more of CBD per 30 ml. If it’s anything less than this, you’re not likely to get the benefits you’re looking for.

  1. An Acceptable Amount of THC

It goes without saying that some CBD oils contain a small amount of THC. It’s okay if there are trace amounts, but it shouldn’t be any higher than 0.03 percent.

When quality control becomes an issue, a product could hit the market with a THC percentage that can get you high. Not only that but depending on how much THC is in the product, it could even be illegal in your particular area.

Tip: don’t buy any CBD product until you check the label for the amount of THC. Furthermore, and if possible, review lab reports for exact details.

  1. Made from Whole-plant Extracts

This confuses many people, but it’s important. The highest quality CBD oils are made from whole-plant extracts, which are also known as full-spectrum oils.

While not always the case, whole-plant extracts are typically higher quality than products that derive from CBD isolates.

When you opt for a product made from an isolate, it doesn’t always include the other ingredients that make it effective, including terpenes, flavonoids, and cannabinoids.

  1. No Crazy Medical Claims

As you shop for CBD oil, it won’t be long before you realize that some products make crazy medical claims which are unsubstantiated. This is a red flag that the product isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Not to mention the fact that making these medical claims is often illegal.

Even though numerous studies have proven CBD effective to treat a variety of medical conditions, it’s not endorsed by or backed by any government agency, such as the Food and Drug Administration. And for that reason, making medical claims is a big no-no.

Have You Answered These Questions?

At this point, you realize that no two CBD oil products are the same. You may also realize that you have some questions on your mind. Now’s the time to answer these, as opposed to simply hoping for the best.

Here’s a good place to start:

  • What are you looking to accomplish by taking CBD oil?
  • Do you know anyone who has benefited from CBD oil? Which products do they recommend?
  • What’s most important to you in a product? (quality should be at the top of your list)
  • Will you purchase CBD oil at a local store or online?
  • Are you familiar with how to take CBD oil, including how much?
  • How much money are you willing to spend?

As you answer these questions, it’ll become clear as to where you should focus your attention. You can then compare products, experiment with those that excite you the most, and make a final decision as to which one deserves most of your attention in the future.

What are your thoughts on the top traits of high-quality CBD oil? What do you focus on when comparing products and making a purchasing decision?
